The Shenzhen Bay Innovative Technology Centre creates a frame of resounding energy under the beautiful sky of Nanshan district: it creates a new landmark and activity hub for the Research and Development / mixed use masterplan at Shenzhen Bay Innovative Technology Center. It redefines the notion of work and leisure through an interactive network of leisure / entertainment and retail facilities and public realm; it reveals unexpected interconnectivity between interior and exterior, flexibility in functional organization, interactive nodes and spaces to facilitate communication, and dynamic multi-level plaza. The Shenzhen Bay Innovative Technology Center will link all the facilities and the public together, creating a true mixed-use destination point that is open and inviting during the day and evening, a profound and unique landmark amidst the High Technology Industry Park.

With over 384,730 sqm overall GFA, the landmark twin R&D towers, situated on the northern portion of the site are made of two distinctive towers featuring soft petal-like facades gently reaching into the sky. The principal tower of 320m tall marks the vertical anchor of this development. Its accompanying “sister” tower at 265 m tall is similar in form yet displays its unique character with different height petal facades. The gentle crisscrossing undulation of the primary and secondary structures of the towers, akin to veins on leaves, along with the gentle curving petal-like forms of the tower, create a unique and strong visual identity for the twin towers.

To the south-east, two residential towers of 150m are placed carefully to allow for maximum view towards both the mountain to the north and the sea-view to the south. Completing the urban edge, at the south and west side of the site, the Entertainment, Leisure, and Retail “pebbles” form the low density urban anchor along South Keyuan road and No.10 High Tech road to the south. These retail/leisure/entertainment pebbles create an interconnected network resulting in a diverse and user-friendly promenade with large overhangs from the strata slab expression providing shaded outdoor spaces and landscape vegetation.
