Cultural Centres, by definition, are institutions that inform, educate, promote, preserve and create forums for the artistic and creative heritage of Man. Its intrinsic importance lies in the knowledge that the legacy of Man is embedded in these particular endeavours. Such activities distinguish Man’s position in this eco-system through his creative vision of the world, of its past, present, and future and of their manifestations and representations, its abstractions and its realisms.

The establishment of an ambitious cultural complex in Guangming New District by the City Construction Bureau signifies a vision of this cultural facility as the bedrock of an emerging new district. It is the magnet that defines its identity drawing upon all aspect of what makes Man unique, its creativity, its artistic expressions, inventiveness, curiosity and its social interaction.

This cultural facility intertwines diverse programs and activities, generating symbiotic relationship between one another. Each is an entity that depends on one another’s force to exist and thrive. Working together programmatically and as part of a larger urban framework to create a strong and dynamic cultural anchor to shape and give its own identity to an emerging new township. Furthermore, the Guangming New District Cultural and Art Centre will be a contemporary new landmark, enhancing the vision and confidence in the development of this new city district and propel an image of a cultural city on its own and its contribution to the larger Shenzhen context.
